Total Price Calculations

To get the total price of your sale, you will need to add shipping & handling. To calculate your total sales cost with shipping & handling, do the following:

International Orders: Outside the United States

International orders will cost more in shipping then the pricing listed below. Please email us for shipping rates to your country.

Domestic Orders: United States

For the first craft you order, add $8.00 for shipping & handling.

For each additional craft you order, add $5.00 for shipping & handling per craft.

Here is an example sheet that shows how to calculate the total for purchasing three crafts. One line is used for each of the three crafts being purchased.

OLDE TYME SHAKER PLANTERS

Is the planter weatherproof?
Yes. The planters have a severe weather-resistant deck stain on them that repels moisture and mildew. The planters will not turn gray over time.

How much weight will it hold?
Over 100 pounds if you hang it in the method mentioned below. The planter is hung using a high strength nylon cord. We have not tested the maximum weight that the planter can hold. You should use your best judgment to determine the maximum safest weight the planter can hold in your situation. Here is our suggestions when hanging your planter:

If you are hanging lightweight objects, we suggest that you hang the metal ring on your hook with the nylon knot at the bottom of the ring.

For heavier arrangements, you should hang the metal ring on your hook with the nylon knot at the top of the ring.


Use this method for heavy arrangements



Note: You should always insert the metal ring through the hook you are using to hang your planter.

Is it stable in the wind?
Yes. The 3-tiered design of the planter lets it gently sway in the wind. The heavier the pots, the less it moves. Remember to attach the hook into a stud if you are using heavy pots or will have the planter exposed to weather conditions.

Can I paint it?
Yes. We suggest that you use an exterior oil based deck stain to maintain the planter. Since the planter is solid wood, you could paint it using standard sanding and painting techniques.

Is it weatherproof?
Yes. The bird feeder has a severe weather-resistant deck stain on them that repels moisture and mildew. The bird feeder will not turn gray over time.

How do I keep the squirrels out of it?
There is no guaranteed method of keeping squirrels out of anything. We have collected several suggestions throughout the years. If you have another suggestion, please email us.

Here are a few ideas we have heard:

Slinky
Cut a piece of Slinky and wrap it around the cord. The squirrels can't get around it to reach the feeder.

Fishing Line
Use a very long line and hang it away from overhead branches. Squirrels can't get a grip on it and slide off.

Grease
The old standby of greasing the pole works if you remember to keep it greased.

Bait and Switch
Get an old pie pan and put three big blobs of peanut butter, jelly (any kind) and honey. Put it as far from the birdfeeder as you can then stand back and watch the fun. Squirrels are just like two-year olds. They will get this mess all over themselves. If there are loose leaves or cut grass around, so much the better. By the time they have cleaned themselves they are full and the birds have finished eating in peace.

This solid wood, hand-cut and hand-stained planter offers something different to that of today's traditional hanging planters. The solid wood structure blends cleanly with all plants for a more natural look. We apply a finish coat of clear water repellent stain to help minimize warping or splitting and to prevent the wood from graying over time.

A triple tiered cascade planter is ideal for trying out foliage combinations to create dramatic displays of vertical color. In addition to providing height to an arrangement, a triple tier design is particularly effective in small spaces. It can be rotated to face more sun light or to give a plant more shade. The rotating action of the planter also makes the deadheading of flowers much easier.

Our planter works outdoors and indoors. You can use this planter in the yard or patio, garden or balcony, or any room in the house. It is versatile enough to work just about anywhere.

This planter supports a variety of pots. We prefer terra-cotta, but plastic or any material that can be safely supported by the lip or sides of the pot will work. The pot should be larger at the top than the bottom, since the pot can either wedge itself into place or support itself by the lip of the pot. It helps make watering easier if the pots have drainage holes in the center of the bottom. The tiers support pots in 4", 6", and 8" diameters. Larger pots can rest on the tier without using the center hole. The tier acts like a shelf when used in this manner.

We call this our Olde Tyme Shaker Planter because these planters convey a sense of tradition that is often associated with the simpler shaker households. They are held together without nails and glue. Instead, the design of the planter securely interlocks everything in place. This solid wood, hand-cut and hand-painted bird feeder offers something different to that of today's traditional bird feeders. A simple, rugged design that is ideal for outdoor use, but nice enough for interior decorative purposes. The solid wood structure lends itself to a more natural environment for visiting birds.

The Finer Points of Hand Crafted Bird Feeders


We apply a finish coat of clear water repellent stain to help minimize warping or splitting and to prevent the wood from graying over time.

We provide two high quality terra-cotta pots durable enough to be held in place by the rim of the pot. With two bowls, you can fill each up with different seeds to satisfy a variety of neighborhood birds.

The circles of screen provided with the feeder prevent the seeds from falling through the drain hole in the bottom of the bowls. By using screen, it allows rain water to drain from the bowls, but still retain the seeds. It is just as easy to stop the water from draining if you would rather have a watering bowl.

A center perch stick gives birds an additional place to hold on to as they visit your buffet.

The hole in the center is the perfect size to place additional treats like apples, a corn cob, or even a plastic jar of peanut butter.

It is a unique, hand-crafted bird feeder with custom designs and limited distribution to guarantee that no two bird feeders are exactly alike.
